Course Description
The Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) is an educational program designed to teach healthcare professionals the necessary skills to resuscitate and stabilize newborn infants who are experiencing difficulties transitioning to life outside the womb. If focus on providing immediate care to infants who may have breathing problems or require assistance in the moments following birth.
Course Objective
* Assessment: Evaluating the conditions of the newborn and identifying any issues that may require intervention.
* Ventilation: Techniques for providing adequate breathing support to newborns, including using specialized equipment like the self-inflating Bag and T-piece resuscitator.
* Chest compressions: Proper methods for administering chest compressions of the infant’s heart rate is low or absent.
* Medications: Administration of medications, if necessary, to stabilize the newborn.
* Team Coordination: Emphasizing effective communication and teamwork among healthcare providers involved in the resuscitation process.

* Pediatricians: Especially those specializing in neonatology.
* Nurses: Particularly those working in labor and delivery, neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), and emergency department.
* Midwives: Those involved in the delivery and immediate care of newborns.
* Respiratory therapist: Individuals assisting in newborn respiratory care.
* Paramedics and emergency medical personnel: Those who might be involved in transporting and providing initial care to newborns.
