Course Description
The 2nd edition of NAEMT Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) course teaches EMS practitioners and other prehospital providers how to respond to and care for patients in a civilian tactical environment. The course presents the three phases of tactical care and integrates parallel EMS nomenclature. The three phases are Hot Zone/Direct Threat Care, Warm Zone/Indirect Threat Care and Cold Zone/Evacuation Care.
Endorsed by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma, NAEMT’s TECC course aligns with the latest guidelines set by the Committee on TECC (Co-TECC) and satisfies all updated National Tactical Emergency Medical Support Competency Domains criteria.
While NAEMT collaborates with Co-TECC as an educational ally, it’s worth noting that Co-TECC sets the standards for prehospital care during tactical incidents but doesn’t design or endorse any specific curriculum.
Course Objective
* Hemorrhage control including immediate action drills for tourniquet application
* MARCH assessment
* Surgical airway control and needle decompression
* Strategies for treating wounded responders in threatening environments
* Caring for pediatric patients
* Techniques for dragging and carrying victims to safety
* Mass-casualty/active shooter event simulation.
